Homework

All homework is due on Monday of the week after the homework is assigned. The first day late is free, every day after that costs 5 points. After 5 calendar days, it's too late. Warn me ahead of time of events that will cause you to miss due dates.

Course Topics

This course will teach you how to use the Visual Basic language and environment to create solutions to common problems. We will cover the syntax of the language and compare it to other languages. We will discuss and practice development of programs that are event driven rather than algorithmic. We will cover how to use Visual Basic to build interfaces to databases and how to build ActiveX controls.

Grading Policy

Final letter grades are determined by the total points you get. I will be using the usual grading scale listed below. I will round up on partial points. If you are within 2 points of the next highest grade, I will move you up. If you are 3 or more points away, I won't. If you are concerned about your performance, contact me at once. After the final, it is too late. Requests for incompletes must have something to do with the medical profession. I will email grade reports from time to time.

There will be a midterm and a final, with quizzes along the way. There will be considerable software development.
